One Buck ATC

After creating all of the kits for the Father’s Day room cards I had a bunch of little parts and pieces left over.  I’ll be honest,  one buck2usually I just toss little bits and scraps right into the trash.  However, I had company over.  Someone that is known for rescuing my scraps so I decided instead to make something.

Keeping with the Father’s Day theme I made artist trading cards to swap in the monthly Pennywise Arts community 1-4-1 atc swap.

The deer trophy was created with part of  the “Deer Trio” die from Memory Box.  The head was “mounted” with foam tape on a oval brown background that was covered in O’So Sticky Tape.  The oval was then beaded with brown translucent micro beads and layered on what I thought was the perfect stamp – part of a one dollar bill.

When I showed it to one of my son’s friends he said, “If you made 99 more you’d have a hundred bucks.”  We all laughed out loud!  I thought that might make a cute saying to add to the back for a Father’s Day token.

And if you happen to be swapping on the Pennywise Arts community 1-4-1 atc swap this month you will be getting one of these bucks in the mail soon!

The Rain Man Shaker

I love creating collaborative art and this is one of those cards that came together from putting two heads together on a gray and stormy day.  Rainman2Thank you Tracy Mathia!  (all the best ideas were hers!)

With all of the rain that we have been getting in Western Washington I feel soggy!  This rainy day shaker card was the perfect expression of that feeling!

We needed a water resistant ink for the background so Dove Gray Staz On® ink was rubbed over glossy white cardstock.

The rain man was stamped with a Kaleidacolor® Spectrum ink pad.  “Washington” was inked just using the blue segment of the same pad.  Then water was spritzed over all at a downward angle until the desired “soggy” look was achieved and the ink started to run.  It was quickly dried with a heat tool.

The “Longer Shaker Card” template from Pennywise Arts was used to create the purple frame and a smaller window of teal was added to the inside.   (For step by step directions and free templates visit the Pennywise Arts Tutorials web page.)

The umbrella only was then stamped again, cut out closely and mounted over the base one with foam tape.

Clear mini micro beads and denim translucent micro beads were added to created the rain.  When the card is tipped, the beads spill over and around the umbrella just like real rain!  I wish this were a video with sound, you would love it!RainmanRains

I’ve made a limited amount of kits for this card which  includes: the template printed on purple Bazzil cardstock, the teal  frame, instructions, acetate,  pre- stamped pieces and micro beads.   (Let me know if you don’t want Washington stamped, I can leave it off.)

Please note that this kit does not include foam tape which is needed to create the shaker box and mount the umbrella.  Other supplies needed are scissors and adhesive.  Email me if you want to order a kit and I will send a Paypal invoice.  Shipping is free.  Card kits are $5 each or only $3 with orders from the PWA website.  And if you just want one already made and since I’m rained in with nothing better to do, I’ll sell a completed card for $8 ($6 with a website order).

Here’s hoping that the sun will come out tomorrow so we can get outside and start enjoying summer!

Hugs, Suzanne
