Bottle Cap Pendants $25  (12:00 noon)

Using supplies from Pennywise Arts and Bottlecap, Inc. we will complete 5 pendants of different design in about 90 minutes.

Class kit includes ball chain and beautiful clear lid gift boxes for all 5 pendants.  So easy and so beautiful!  Check five friends off your Christmas gift list lickety split!

 

Handmade Paper Stars!  $28  (2:30 pm)

These incredible three dimensional stars are over 13” across and are made completely of paper! Learn how easy it is to create one of your very own with templates from Pennywise Arts! Students will be given additional templates to take home, including bonus pages with a variety of star sizes.

Students may wish to bring their own basic supply kit with scissors, cutting mat and craft knife to reduce any waiting time for shared materials.

Watercolor Class Creations

I taught a fun little watercolor class this weekend and boy did we ever make some gorgeous works of art! 

Upper left by Kathy Lewis, Upper right by Sheila Leitch, lower two by Sandy Johnson.

The “zen” part of this class is creating the watercolor backgrounds.  It’s so easy to lose yourself in the process.  We used pigment inks, O’So Sticky Powder, Clear Ultra Fine micro beads and a single flourish stamp from Stampers Anonymous for the focal point on all of the cards.  Each student made about 15 little canvases.

It’s always interesting to see what others think to try and I am totally inspired by these ladies!  It’s hard to believe this is a beginner class, isn’t it?!

Shaker Card Classes Coming To Puyallup, WA!

I’m so excited for the opportunity to offer BOTH of our new shaker card classes on South Hill in Puyallup, WA.  My dear friend Leola Johnston has opened her home for our use – THANK YOU Leola!  Ü

Saturday November 3rd is the date – reserve your spot early because we expect to fill up fast! 

10 am to 1 pm - Graphic 45 Shaker Cards

 

2 pm to 5pm - Four Seasons Shaker Cards

Limit is 8 students in each class.  $25 per student/per class must be prepaid.

Each student should bring a basic kit with a bone folder, scissors (fine tip and long blade), scoring tool and ruler/straight edge.  Bring an ATG tape gun if you have it (don't buy anything you don't already have!)

Come learn the art of making interactive shaker cards that will mesmerize!

Interested in private art parties? All classes can be taught at your home or our North Bend home studio. All you need is at least 4 friends to attend with you. If you have 8 friends then the hostess tuition is waived!

Frenzied For Flowers

The energy of my paper flowers class at Art 'N Soul today was amazing!!  Thanks to all the fun ladies that came to play!  Here are some of their creations.  Hannah is such a sweet doggie, chilling on our pretty papers!

Paper Roses Galore!

I hope you’re not tired of seeing my paper roses yet!  I don’t think it’s possible to ever tire of making them!  Yesterdays photo didn’t show the individual packages very well, so I retook the pictures.  :)

This rose/bow is huge!  It’s about 10” across.

It’s super easy to add any blend of micro beads to the edges for more interest and texture (if that’s even possible!)

I had so much fun matching my roses up with hand made papers from my stash and coordinating it all together with my favorite ribbons from May Arts.

Here are some examples for the Paper Roses class I am teaching at Art 'N Soul this Sunday!  (I used them as bows on pretty packages.)  Come play with me!

There is nothing imitation about these paper roses!

Incredibly durable and easy to make, it’s a given that students will be addicted to this inexpensive technique in a blink of an eye creating a frenzy of colorful and unique paper flowers!

Using a wide variety of inks we will explore learning several different techniques for dyeing the paper. This will be followed up with stamping ideas for turning these colorful blooms into gift bows or even greeting cards.  Of course there will be micro beads embellishments too!

Students can expect to take home at least 5 completed flowers with supplies to make several more at home.  Price $25 - Class starts at noon – plan for 2 hours.

I’m so excited to announce my new class line up at Art ‘N Soul!

On Sunday, September 9th I have:

Flower Frenzy    12-2pm

There is nothing imitation about these paper roses!  Incredibly durable and easy to make, it’s a given that students will be addicted to this inexpensive technique in a blink of an eye. Using a wide variety of inks we will explore learning several different techniques for dyeing the paper. This will be followed up with stamping ideas for turning these colorful blooms into gift bows or even greeting cards! (Stores will receive these samples in advance to help sell the class.)  Students can expect to take home at least 5 completed flowers with supplies to make several more at home.

Using supplies from Pennywise Arts and Bottlecap, Inc. we will complete 5 pendants of different design.  Students will have a wide selection of images:  nature, fantasy, vintage and playful.   Class kit includes ball chain and beautiful clear lid gift boxes for all 5 pendants.  These would be lovely to have on hand for last minute gifts!  

 

On Sunday, September 23rd I’ll be doing two different shaker card classes!

Shakers Round One is from 12-2pm and for sure you will get to make the “Rainman” shaker card there! 

A Second Dose of Shakers  is from 3-5pm.  More class samples coming soon!

Each class will have a variety of shaker card shapes, sizes, techniques and designs!

Miniature Watercolor Gallery

Creative Classes In Paper

In this simple water color basics class students will discover their inner “Impressionist” while creating a mosaic of miniature “canvas” like pieces. This 3 hour class is divided into 3 sections. The first is free flowing with brushes, color and water. (No experience necessary). Next is hands on color coordinating of paper layers to match each student’s own “gallery” set. The last segment of class is devoted to turning our masterpieces into finished greeting cards, complete with envelopes.

Students can expect to fully complete 3 to 6 cards in class depending on each individual pace. There will be lots of parts and pieces left over to make several additional cards at home.

Price $35  with 5 student minimum

This class is not available by mail.

Students will need to bring a basic supply kit to include a ruler, stylus and bone folder or a Scor-It board.

Students may wish to bring a heat tool and a water brush or paint brushes of miscellaneous shapes and sizes.

I’m sure you can imagine that I do a lot of shipping.  To make sure that orders get to their destination in good shape, I use A LOT of packing tape! For years, I have saved the cardboard cores from the tape rolls knowing that they would be great for "something" some day. I do save O'So Sticky Tape rolls too, I just don't go through that as quickly.

Created from scratch (and packing tape cores) this interactive pop up box can be personalized for any greeting, name or power word that students desire.

Actual colors may vary from photo. Allow 2.5 hours to complete.  Price $25 with 5 student minimum.

Students may pre order additional kits to take home for $10 each.

Creative Classes In Paper

Working from home has fabulous benefits that I don’t take for granted.  Working in my  jammies is definitely a top favorite.  There are also drawbacks though.  #1 drawback is that super social me is spending way too much time alone working at the computer.  It’s high time to get back out in the “field”! 

So, with that goal in mind I’ve been pulling together my class write ups and project samples in hopes of getting on a schedule or  two (or ten!) at some of my favorite local stamp stores.  Being in class with creative people feeds my heart and soul and I’ve missed it!

I’ll be posting all of the current classes available here on the blog.   If you see something you like and you’re local to the Pacific Northwest, please let your favorite stores know!  I’m also available for private classes at your place or mine.  If you aren’t local, you can still partake – I will be offering many of the class kits for sale so you won’t feel left out.   :)
